Reframing the net zero communications challenge: Insights from Innovation Zero World Congress 2026

By Madano and Thinks Insight & Strategy

Three in four UK adults want net zero to cut bills, but fewer than half expect it to deliver.

Recent polling by our sister agency Thinks Insight & Strategy finds that public support for clean energy remains high, but affordability, energy security and who pays will be critical as political parties debate the next phase of the transition and the Chancellor prepares for his first budget amidst increasing pressures on households and businesses.

Our latest report combines perspectives gathered from energy and decarbonisation leaders at Innovation Zero World Congress with a nationally representative survey of more than 2,000 UK adults. It explores the gap between what industry sees as critical to delivering the transition and what the public wants and expects from it.

The findings point to a communications challenge for the sector. While industry talks about infrastructure and investment, the public is looking for tangible benefits, particularly lower bills and greater energy security. The report explores how a clearer, more consistent case for the transition can connect those priorities and help build public confidence in what comes next.
