DeepMind will move out of mum and dad’s place (Google’s office) next year, taking a large office space around the corner in Kings Cross, reports Greg Williams for WIRED. The large 11-storey office has been planned by DeepMind’s founders for nearly five years and represents Google sticking to its promise of keeping DeepMind’s HQ in London.
As Laura Citron, chief executive at London & Partners notes, DeepMind has “stuck closely and passionately to its London roots.” While many have retained disappointment that Britain’s biggest tech success stories aren’t able to retain independence, it is heartening that DeepMind will continue to grow in London and a shot in the arm in the UK’s global competitiveness in the AI arms race.
