The role – Senior Medical Writer

We are looking for an experienced and accomplished Principal Medical Writer to join Madano’s integrated communication and education Healthcare team. You will lead on research, quality control, client relationships and editorial pieces for a range of purposes, as well as having the chance to provide strategic input and be involved in business development. A rewarding part of this role is the guidance and support you can provide to the full integrated Healthcare team as a whole.

While this role would ideally need to be part-based in our London office, Madano offers flexible start/end time around our core working hours and working from home is certainly an opportunity.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working independently and with writers/content developers to research, write and quality control scientific documents for a range of purposes (e.g., scientific platforms and messaging slide kits, Q&As and lexicons, newsletters, conference materials) 
  • Developing and maintaining professional relations with opinion leaders and healthcare professionals 
  • Assisting, supporting or driving new business development  
  • Successfully managing client relationships  
  • Mentoring and coaching fellow writers

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant writing experience spent in a medical/integrated communications/pharmaceutical environment 
  • Broad knowledge of therapy areas (preferably in oncology, neuroscience and rare diseases
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control skills 
  • Strong scientific background, educated to a minimum degree level in life sciences (MSc/PhD advantageous) 
  • A passion for communications and science, and to wanting to make a difference in healthcare
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills 
  • A proactive solutions-focussed attitude 
  • Strong IT skills, being comfortable with Microsoft packages such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel
