Account Manager, Healthcare Communications

The Role
Over the past three years, Madano’s Healthcare Practice has grown significantly to become one of the UK’s largest focused healthcare communications offerings. To support our continued growth, we’re looking for an Account Manager to join our team. This person should have at least two years’ experience in a consultancy setting or other science/healthcare communications role.
An Account Manager is integral to the day-to-day running of our accounts, across different therapy areas and projects. We are looking for a disciplined self-starter who can work with the team to deliver high quality work that meets the needs of our clients. The candidate must be able to show their expertise in all things healthcare communications – media, medical, advocacy, digital – through recent projects. We want someone who can help our clients tell their unique stories.
Key Skills
Communications expertise:
- A strong scientific background and ability to simplify complex science
- Experience in writing strong first drafts for a range of materials, including articles, press releases and social content
- Proficiency in writing and editing documents, ensuring all client deliverables are of a high quality
- Possesses strong attention to detail and an ability to proofread/QC documents at each stage of development
- Experience in communicating and coordinating briefs and feedback with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Someone with a knowledge of digital communications and social media, who has recently delivered and measured a successful campaign
- Understanding of local and international regulations relating to the healthcare industry to enable high-quality, compliant management of projects
Client service:
- Ability to deliver high quality work across multiple accounts
- Knows the status of all projects and ensures timelines are adhered to by all parties, and proactive in supporting team members to meet deadlines
- Confidence in responding to clients through email, and conducting client meetings/calls independently
- Point of contact for a number of suppliers/vendors and ability to manage relationships across the business
Business development:
- Ability to begin establishing contacts within client organisations and the industry, and identify areas for business growth
- Ability to develop, track and adhere to budgets
- Good understanding of invoicing process and able to review and approve invoices
People skills:
- Effectively delegate work to Account and Senior Account Executives and support the delivery to manager(s)
- Take an active role in mentoring and coaching junior staff
- Identify and pursue opportunities to collaborate with other practice groups and companies within the network
- Building confidence and skills in presenting to internal and external audiences
