Three members of Madano completed the Virgin London Marathon 2017 and in doing-so, have raised over £4500 for two British charities: Children with Cancer UK and MACS (Microphthalmia, Anophthalmia and Coloboma Support).
Not only have they raised a large amount of money, but all three achieved big wins on the day. Michael bettered the time he set at last year’s London Marathon, Jonathan beat his brother by two minutes and Kelvin crossed the line with little preparation.
- Michael: 3 hours 25 minutes
- Jonathan: 4 hours 14 minutes
- Kelvin: 4 hours 26 minutes
In the weeks and months leading up to the race, a number of events were organised to raise both awareness and money for the two charities. Events included a cake sale and a cooking competition where only a microwave and grill could be used.
Congratulations to all three for not only completing the race but for raising a substantial amount of money for two worthy causes.
The total amount of money raised at the time of writing is: £4,606.49 (inc. Gift Aid).
Children with Cancer UK is one of Britain’s biggest charities dedicated to fighting against childhood cancer. It funds research, supports welfare programmes and raises awareness of children with cancer across the UK.
Founded in 1993, MACS supports children and their families across the world who are born with Microphthalmia (Small Eyes), Anophthalmia (No eyes) or Coloboma (Misformed eyes). It also welcomes adults born with a MACS condition, who may have found the charity for the first time.
